Villa Amalie – Willemstad, Curacao

We have stayed here from 17 June on til the 22 of June and had a lovely time its quite tranquil and good services the oneness are very nice open and good at what they do we loved it

I was lectured on not leaving the fan on (when I left the room to go to the car and back) in a way that certanily didn't make me feel like a respected customer. The hallway had a bad smell and bathrooms were old and separate from bedroom. Breakfast repetitive. Overall we didn't think it was a good value.

Edited to add details.No one is ever required to use their legal name on Google.We did indeed stay at Villa Amalie in December. We did not enjoy repetitive breakfast. It's also ridiculous that it's only served during 8-9 am, one hour quite early in the morning, so after trying it we just skipped the rest of the days.The room wasn't very clean. Not the best area to stay at either, walking to center takes a bit of time. Did not like the lock system, three different keys to get to your room. The bathroom across the hall sucked, no warm water was even worse.We didn't like communication with owners. They repeatedly and consistently spoke of many rules on the property and we felt lectured for our own money.Overall not worth the money. Do not recommend.

Upon arrival on Dec 25th, we were told that our reservation was changed to the single bed. We are two friends and looked for two separate beds specifically. Our downgraded room was smaller and had only one bed. The facilities had no AC in the hallways, poor smell. We asked for two separate beds, and the owner said that they changed our booking for us (for an unknown reason) and that they did it before with no complains (I highly doubt it). No price adjustments were made. No advanced notifications were sent. If I knew in advance about it, I'd cancel and book another place, but alas. The owner offered the full refund and that we need to find something else (Merry Christmas!).The bottom line, there are other nicer and more honest places around with more attentive and respectful staff.Answer to the owner's comment: I found another place by myself, with no assistance from you. You provided a lift, but it's reasonable since we spent money on taxi. Nobody let me know about the change, and you didn't offer the discount till I asked. 25% was too small for us sleeping on the same bed. It's ridiculous "to make decisions" for others while I knew exactly what I booked. Also, $500 for a single bed? There were better options available for a bed for two people with better location. Please take responsibility for mistreating your clients. This is not the first negative review. Also, please stop calling women "sweetie", it's disgusting. I'm not your friend to be called this way.

Royer and Paul are super nice, friendly, attentive, and professional hosts. They build this very charming hotel stay in Willemstad with passion. Its a very homey place including a cuddly dog named Irene. We felt at home immediately.Location is good: 14m Emma Bridge, 10m to Nieuwestraat (nice restaurants and nightlife)Beds are nice and very soft, we slept tight. Also, there is a smart tv including netflix (and others) provided, nice to have! You should be aware that the room is very tiny, we needed to be creative and flexible with the space that we had while having 3 suitcases.The breakfast is pretty basic, but they use good products which we liked.Also, there is tasty decent coffee available 24/7The hotel provides other convenient services including taxi at a fair price. You just gotta text them and they will pick you up.At arrival, We got 4 tickets from their home-base-pool Saint Tropez (free of charge!), a very chique and trendy place with a romantic infinity pool. How luxury. We definitely recommend people to visit this place if you’re in the mood for an upscale beach club.Royer and Paul, thank you for this great experience!! See you later
