We visited Lagun Sunset Resort on our most recent trip to Curacao, and I’m posting this review on multiple platforms because more people need to know about it!We emailed Henny a day in advance to reserve a Day Pass, but we liked it so much that we came back the next day too! The facilities are like a magical dream. Everything is modern, clean, and new as of 2022. The comfortable lounge chairs around the pool and on each apartment’s private deck are extra large - the apartment deck also has a couch to sit on if you’re not in a lounging mood. There are ceiling fans out there as well, which is another nice touch. Every detail has been lovingly considered by Henny and Peter, the owners of the resort. The views of the ocean from the infinity pool are gorgeous, but have your lunch at the tables on either the upper or lower decks next to the glass railings that overlook the ocean - the water is the bluest blue. Be sure to pack your meal though if you’re visiting for just the day because while there is a bar, there is not a restaurant on premises. If you’re staying the night (which we absolutely will be doing on our next trip!) you can cook in the fully stocked kitchens in the apartments. We asked for a tour and saw that there is a microwave/real oven combo (not common in the US), a dishwasher, a fridge/freezer, an induction stove, a toaster, an electric kettle, a coffee maker, etc.The pictures don’t do it justice! It’s modern and tidy in a Scandinavian way, and the details truly stand out - both European and American outlets with 120 and 220 volts?! A gorgeous niche in the shower for your toiletries?! Flatscreen tv’s with Fire Sticks?! We’ve stayed at a few places in Curaçao and this is the highest quality by far. There is air conditioning (AC) in the bedroom, but the main living space has gorgeous windows and glass doors and both are easy to open for the constant Curacao breeze. We were provided pool towels and set ourselves up on the loungers under a shaded pool deck. There were plenty of loungers in the sun with an umbrella available if that’s more your thing. There is a beautiful outdoor shower as well.We grabbed our snorkels (they can provide them if you don’t have your own) and headed down the easy to walk stairs to the lower deck. There were a few more tables and chairs here, plus two big sinks and an outdoor shower for washing off diving equipment. The ocean access makes it feel like paradise and the ladder was easy to climb. We went snorkeling along the cliffs and saw 1000 fish - blue tang, parrotfish, trunk fish, butterfly fish, sergent major, fairy basslet, hogfish. Watch for the sun to make it over the cliffs to get the brightest view of the fish, but then stay to watch the sunset from the pool. We saw a pelican (my favorite) and the small, glittering fish that the birds dive for, but on this side of the island you may get lucky and see dolphins or tuna. Finally, Henny and Peter are extremely welcoming, friendly, and communicative - we enjoyed talking with them and they made sure we had everything we needed to have an excellent experience. We only took pictures when there were no other guests around because this all natural resort is a nudist resort - if you’re sick of having a wet bathing suit butt all day, I’d really recommend giving it a try. Skinny dip in both the pool and the ocean like us! Don’t miss out on this wonderful treasure of a place!
