I have only been to Zus which comes highly recommended inside the Plasa Bieu. The whole fried snapper is very fresh and delicious. This is the local food fair with decent prices (listed in local currency). Get there early because when lunch time comes, it is very busy with the local folks, understandably. They accept usd, local 💲 and credit card. The lime juice is very refreshing. Their pumpkin pancakes are very popular too. Order a few of them, you won't be disappointed. It's quite warm/ hot in Curacao but there's a nice breeze. Zus is a welcome delight and I hear the okra soup is a must try, it does have pork as a season. There are BBQ trucks a little farther away from the tourist area that are worth a try. Get more for your money as well and tasty. Please tip the waitress, they work very hard. The only gripe I have is that the Plasa shuts down early approximately 4pm. Hopefully they'll consider longer hours especially on weekends. Tourism have really increased this past year in Curacao.Have fun
Great food and atmosphereof the local dishes of Curaçao! I ate at Su-Kurio that had authentic Suriname dishes and had the Javanese Chicken dish. Nice hosts and servers as well and will highly recommend.
These were some of the best meals we had on Curacao and at a decent price point! If you eat here first, you’ll probably be disappointed with other restaurants serving similar dishes.
Food was okay, I had higher expectations. Many of the vendors sold the same products. Overall if you in Curacao, you should go and eat and experience something local
Had their okra thing and takeaway goat meal with a hair in it. Goat tasted like leftovers and both the rice and the goat had a weird flavor that might be native to Curacao similar to cooking with peanut oil. It wasn't my favorite and that hair is definitely not the business. The rice also tasted like it was overnight rice or something similar because rice doesn’t clump up like that freshly made. Maybe because I am Trini, I am used to fresh goat falling off the bone with no weird aftertaste. The place with the hair is towards the end with two ladies working there. Please wear a hairnet or observe the food you are taking out.
Plasa Bieu is a local lunchtime spot with 5 or 6 food stands. Lunch is prepared in clear view and once you choose your vendor the staff seat you. Very organised and clean. Very good standard of food. Visited twice while on holiday. 5 stars for cleanliness, efficiency and good presentation.
Oh my gosh! This is where you go to get a taste of the culture. Busy food market, but once you've tasted the food, it was worth the wait. Even though there were a lot of people and seating wasn't readily available, the wait wasn't that long, truth be told. Plus, the servers were very helpful in finding seating accommodations and suggestions from the menu. The pumpkin pancake at the last booth is an absolute must.
We were told this was the place to try some of the most amazing local cuisine so we stopped by for lunch. We were hoping to try the Arepa di Pampuna (Curaçao Pumpkin Pancakes), but apparently if you don't get there early, they sell out pretty quickly. We instead tried the goat stew from the very last stall, which was delicious.
In our quest to savor the local cuisine, we stumbled upon this place featuring several stalls offering a variety of dishes. I tried the fish with rice from two different stalls, and each time, the preparation and taste were distinct. The food was exceptionally flavorful, and the service was impressively swift. At approximately $10 per dish, it's incredibly budget-friendly, considering the generous portions. It's worth noting that only one stall accepts card payments, while the others operate on a cash-only basis. The establishment exclusively caters to locals and closes quite early in the afternoon. Overall, I highly recommend it for a genuine local dining experience.
