I stayed at this hotel for six nights and unfortunately had a pretty miserable stay throughout its entirety. The main issues that I had with my stay at those hotel were due to the very persistent and severe construction and lack of privacy, among other things. Although some issues were situational and potentially bad luck on my end, they could have been at least reduced with improved, knowledgeable and honest communication from hotel staff.⁃ I was informed when I arrived that there was construction at the hotel, and that the noisy parts would only last from 11am-3pm for the first two days of my stay. There were very loud noises (from drilling, hammering, use of electrical tools, etc) during those two days that spanned much longer than the four hour periods. Unfortunately on day three, and throughout the remainder of my stay, this continued. Construction workers arrived before 8am and continued past 6pm on most days. When asked, hotel staff said they thought the noise would be isolated to those times but actually it would persist throughout the week. It didn’t seem like they were too aware of what to expect, or were intentionally downplaying it, so it was difficult to plan around. I was provided with a voucher to visit a nearby pool during one day, which helped for a couple hours only. I stayed pretty active out of the hotel during my trip, but it would have been nice to have had the opportunity to take a quiet break out of the sun and between activities during the day. I was longing for the opportunity to take a midday nap too, but that was impossible under these conditions. Honestly, due to the proximity of this particular room to the construction (shared walls) I don’t think it was appropriate to rent out that room under these conditions, especially without being informed ahead of time. If it was necessary to rent out, a discount and the information about the construction ahead of time would have been well-deserved and very much appreciated.⁃ My privacy wasn’t respected, with staff coming into my room several times during the first few days alone without any notice. When I came back to my room from spending the day out early on during my stay, I noticed the curtains were opened when I had left them closed - but nothing else appeared out of place. I asked hotel staff about it and was informed only then that they had needed to do a ‘bug check’ earlier. I wasn’t informed ahead of time and honestly doubt I would have ever been notified if I hadn’t asked about it directly. Housekeeping came the next day, which is fine, but when I had later asked that I be informed when staff plan on coming into the room, I was told that was fine. However, staff entered yet again the following day without notification, apparently lack of communication on their end. It appeared early on that my privacy just wasn’t being respected, something I’ve never really had an issue with during stays at other hotels.⁃ My chief complaints are related to the severe and persistent construction and lack of privacy being respected but there were some issues as well (parking was difficult, tap water was warm, etc). But the icing on the cake came when I was awoken at 3 in the morning during my last night from the sound of spattering water. Water was leaking from a ceiling light, onto my clothes hung below it and then the floor. I scurried out of bed to move things that could be damaged, put a pot on the floor to capture the water and dry the water that had already puddled. I notified staff immediately and the leaking had stopped within the hour, although my clothes and sleep were disrupted for much longer.Although hotel staff appeared kind throughout my stay, it couldn’t offset the multiple, consistent issues throughout the duration of my stay. Some of which I hope can be reduced or prevented in the future for other guests. The cost of this spot was no where worth it, especially considering the level of distress that it added to what I was hoping would be a relaxing vacation.
