I think the overwhelmingly positive reviews of Nos Krusero (NK) gave us unrealistic expectations, so hopefully this will be more balanced. There are good & bad things about it. We stayed in the deluxe ocean view, 3rd floor.TLDR, things that would have improved our stay here: weatherstripping on the door to stop the rattling, a more comfy sofa, more towels, washclothes, soft bedsheets for entire stay. It’s ALWAYS VERY windy there. It sounded like a hurricane while in the apartment. I know NK can’t help that, but bc of the wind, the door rattles loudly; we wedged a rolled up plastic bag in the door to stop the rattling. No doorknob on the inside, just a bent wire hook & deadbolt. There’s a combination lock box outside the door, so it was nice to lock our key there & not worry about losing it in the sea.The small couch in the living room is pretty hard & uncomfortable. We put all the bed pillows on it to try to make it more comfy, but not really a couch you can lay on bc of the way it’s sectioned. I think it’s advertised as another bed, but I can’t see anyone sleeping on it except maybe a small child. The TV is high up on a shelf & might be nicer if lower; some streaming services on it, which was nice. Our 1st night there was rough. We arrived late & the AC was off. It was too hot to sleep, but the following nights were ok if we kept the bedroom cool. AC in the living room costs extra. The bed sheets the 1st half of our stay were not great, loud and rustly. They felt plastic-y & a plastic cover on the mattress, both made it hot trying to sleep. Before our 2nd night, we took off the plastic mattress cover & that helped some. Half way thru our stay, they cleaned our room very well & changed the sheets. The 2nd set of sheets were much softer (& quieter lol); I wish we had those the whole time. There was a bad smell coming from the plumbing sometimes. The shower had some black stains around the bottom corners that made the shower look dirty. The shower curtain was lightweight & hard to keep in the shower & keep water from getting all over the floor outside the shower. Very spacious shower tho! Would like some shelves in the shower to keep soaps, etc. Also more hooks/hanging bars in the bathroom in general would be good. We got 4 towels total that we could swap for new ones, & a towel floor mat; I would have liked a couple extra towels, some washclothes & hand towels. The bedroom furniture is pretty. The firmness of the bed was good for me but was too firm for my bf. Hard to please everyone in that way.The high ceilings are pretty with beams & panels. The balcony is huge & nice! Nice view of flowering plants, the sea & sunsets. There’s a gate to get to the balcony without going thru the room; nice if you have lots of wet stuff. And a drying rack to hang all the wet stuff on which was nice.We didn’t get in the pool, we like the sea, but it was very pretty & looked clean with beautiful landscaping all around it. A little smaller than I expected, but I enjoyed looking at it coming & going. The landscaping was really pretty on the entire property.NK is near diving, restaurants, & beaches. 45 min drive to Willemstad, 20-25 min to a grocery store (not mini market) & 15 min to a gas station. Playa Kalki is lovely. Lively & full of people during the day & empty after 5pm. If you’re looking for nightlife, don’t stay in Westpunt. Everything shuts down around 5pm. Several good restaurants nearby; best to make reservations. I think the only restaurants open after 6:30pm on weekdays were Cactus Cafe (our fav) & Blue View. All that to say, you might be cooking for yourself on weeknights & the grocery store is far away, so prepare accordingly.Kitchen was decently stocked. Gas stove that you must light with a match. The plates don’t fit in the microwave, but I don’t think they are microwave safe anyway. There were some tiny bugs crawling around on the kitchen counter & table. 😬Conclusion, now that I know what to expect & how to prepare, I might stay here again if I’m looking for a very quiet, low-key, small town vacation.
