Sun Reef Village

Sun Reef is perfectly located a 15-minute drive from Willemstad, right at the crystal blue Caribbean Sea. We stayed 6 nights at the oceanfront bungalow Sea Horse, 1 night at gardenview bungalow Buni, and 6 nights at oceanfront house Flintstone. We were picked up from the airport and rented a car from Sun Reef. Sun Reef is a family-owned business. Communication with Ilja, Liesbeth, Wim was timely and very pleasant. We had a wonderful time at sun Reef!!! We stayed at Flintstone apartment and really loved it! It is right by the sea with two palm trees on the Terrace and only some steps to the sea. The ladder (To reach the water) there could be replaced, but anyway: It’s just some stairs to the sea. If you are Scuba diving, you can bring your oxygen right to your apartment. That is amazing! The kitchen is most equipped, even a bag to cool your stuff.Ilja gave us immediate help for any problem, and everything was very easy.

Our family of four (kids are young-twenties) absolutely loved Sun Reef Village! We had such a wonderful, relaxing vacation that we can't wait to return. Our kids even think we need to stay longer than a week next time.The views are amazing, the property is quiet, and you can hop into the warm water any time you want. I enjoyed some calm night swims while my son sat on the patio/overlook and talked with me. We enjoyed our bungalow so much that there were a couple of days that we didn't even leave the property. We bought a lot of groceries from a friendly local store and made a lot of our meals on site. The cooking utensils, pots, pans, and dishes were provided with the bungalow, which made it very convenient. And the outside patio dining table made for awesome nights of dining, talking, and enjoying the sights and sounds of the Caribbean. Truly paradise.We weren't able to schedule any dives through the property because we hadn't set them up in advance and the days were already booked. But the dive operators were very friendly and helpful and we saw a ton of activity at the shop. Next time we will be sure to schedule in advance, including a refresher course.We were very happy that we rented a vehicle through Sun Reef and also got picked up at the airport. It was super easy and got us acclimated to the traffic patterns before we drove ourselves.All of the workers were super friendly and the owners were also very attentive and helpful. Ilja gave us good advice before we went into town or to the beaches.Thanks for an amazing vacation! We can't wait to come back.

If you are looking for a great place to relax with an amazing view than sun reef is for you. The sea view is breath taking, the rooms have a colonial ambience and enough space for privacy. Very friendly employees who always greet you with a smile. Easy communications across all their platforms. The bungalows are very spacious to our surprise. There is enough shade to cool of between the trees, two cats and a parrot who will keep you company in the main yard. There is a main platform from which you can cliff jump into the sea or just use the ladder. Snorkling or diving is a must, because you will enjoy the underwater scenery. Only downside were the soft mattresses.. too soft for my liking. Also that the gardenner came by our bungalow to water the plants and woke us up while we were having a siesta. I understand it's his job, but still he could have been considerate to our siesta time. Don't let these two cons keep you from enjoying this paradise alongside the sea. I guarrantee you won't regret it.

We have been staying at Sun Reef Village since 2002, at which point, there was an absentee owner and the place was a bit of a wreck. The current owners, Wim and Lies, took over in 2004 and they have been making vast improvements ever since.The “village” consists of ten bungalows, five of which are situated on a cliff above the crystal clear Caribbean waters. The other five are situated within the property’s gardens. The waterfront units feature ladders to access the sea and there are also communal decks with ladders so that those people with a garden unit can also enjoy a swim. The units range from one, two or three bedrooms and all are equipped with full kitchens. Each bungalow has an alarm system and the village itself sits behind a high wall, making security a non-issue. The owners have a number of cars that you may rent from them and there is a parking lot in which you may park their rental car. Should you decide to rent a car at the airport, Sun Reef will not guarantee that you’ll have a spot in their lot, as their cars have first priority.The prices are very reasonable, considering that you are visiting a tourist destination. And there are benefits to be enjoyed here that no Marriott and few other vacation rentals will afford you. The peace and quiet of this place, the serenity, cannot be overstated. The loveliness is very nearly impossible to put into words. And your hosts, Wim and Lies, are two extremely nice people, who will do everything in their power to make sure that you enjoy a wonderful stay with them.We just finished a three-week visit to Sun Reef and we had a fabulous time. The issue with Covid felt like it was non-existent, as the island is very safe right now, with an incredibly low number of cases. We were able to freely go everywhere on the island without a mask, except for the grocery store, and that is a tremendous feeling these days. We urge everyone who is looking to enjoy a safe and relaxing vacation to try a stay at Sun Reef Village. You definitely will not be disappointed!

After being forced by COVID-19 to leave the country in March 2020, we finally made it back. As soon as air travel allowed flights to Curacao, we were on that plane! Wim and Lies (and their staff) have taken advantage of the “down time” and completed many improvements to the apartments . They are absolutely BEAUTIFUL! - so bright and cheerful. We felt very comfortable and safe dining out at the “open air” restaurants during our 3 week visit. We were so sad to leave, but will rush back in October to enjoy our “home away from home.” 😏
