The Curaçao Sea Aquarium is a haven for marine enthusiasts and researchers alike. Our facility has been continuously upgraded and restored, contributing significantly to the unique underwater reef ecosystem that surrounds us. With a range of projects aimed at marine conservation, we are dedicated to sustaining and enhancing the vibrant marine life of Curaçao.

Canal Restoration Project

Sustaining Reef Species

The Canal Restoration Project at the Curaçao Sea Aquarium involves a series of interconnected projects designed to promote the sustainability of reef species. This initiative includes the creation of natural underwater rock structures, the restoration and out-planting of hard and soft corals, and the planting of red mangroves along the shoreline. These efforts provide the perfect conditions for juvenile fish and coral larvae to thrive, offering refuge, shelter, and abundant food.

Visible Success

Our ongoing restoration efforts are already showing remarkable success. The canal is home to a diverse array of new marine species, demonstrating the positive impact of these projects. By educating the public and countering the negative effects of human activity on marine ecosystems, we aim to make a lasting difference.

Queen Conch Hatchery

Reviving an Iconic Species

The Queen Conch Hatchery at the Curaçao Sea Aquarium is dedicated to addressing the decline of Queen Conch populations in the Caribbean. By culturing thousands of juveniles under controlled conditions, our hatchery team is working tirelessly to repopulate depleted areas in Curaçao and beyond. This project is essential for the survival of this iconic species.

Zero Waste Feeding Cycle

Sustainable Marine Practices

In 2012, the Curaçao Sea Aquarium implemented a “zero waste feeding cycle” that has had a significant positive impact on marine wildlife. By maintaining fish populations such as Gray and Yellowtail Snappers close to the facility, we protect them from overfishing and ensure larger larvae production. This sustainable practice supports the repopulation and settlement of juvenile fish across the island.

Soft Coral Farm

Coral Conservation

With the global decline of coral reefs, the Curaçao Sea Aquarium is committed to developing techniques for growing healthy and strong species of soft corals. By displaying our farmed corals, we educate visitors about these vital organisms and reduce the need for wild collection, helping to preserve hard coral species in their natural habitats.

Deep Water Fish Display

Unique Marine Ecosystems

The Curaçao Sea Aquarium offers a unique exhibition that recreates the abyssal reefs of the island, showcasing species that live at depths up to a thousand feet. In collaboration with Substation Curaçao, we study and display these fascinating organisms, educating guests about the diverse marine life that exists beyond the shallow reefs.

We had a great day visiting the aquarium! The open water concept is so cool. Lots of marine life to see. We enjoyed the underwater viewing in the boat as well as the dolphin training & visiting with the flamingos. A lovely place to visit!
The aquarium is quite small, and it’s sad to see many of the animals live in small, dirty tanks. The giant grouper and green moray can barely move around. I was shocked to see that there are touch tanks with no employee supervision. However, I will say the underwater boat observatory is interesting and nice for kids, and the dolphin show is great. We were there at the end of the day, and it wasn’t crowded at all.
Small Aquarium with a lot of activities for kids. Feed the stingrays and flamingos along with plenty of touch tanks. Dolphin area is fantastic. (And making bigger). Walk through yourself tour with information in English and Dutch. Take a taxi or use tour to get there. Difficult to get to otherwise.
Amazing experience at the Animal Encounter! Zeric, Alexandra and Tia were super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We paid ($50) extra for Tia to follow our group around and take photos, so we didn't have to try to take photos and could just enjoy ourselves. Tia took lots of great photos and videos of us feeding the sharks, visiting the giant turtle and playing with the stingray. Also cool is that if some of your group doesn't do the encounter, they can watch you from the boat, even underwater! You can dive down and wave! 10/10, recommend!
Check the website first for the schedule they have for the day. So you can go and feed the fishes, sharks, flamingos etc. other than that it’s not really interesting. The dolphins are the main attraction the show is really cute. The ocean lens is cool tho.
Nice aquarium, lots of variety. Not too big, not too small, perfect for a few hours. A nice touch was the half-submarine like boat which allows you to see fish underwater. Also recommend swimming with dolphins over here.
Great half day aquarium with children! We did the dolphin interaction and it was fabulous. In addition there were many hands on activities such as animal feedings, glass bottom boats and unique sea life. There are two stores, a cafe and space to take a shower post dolphin swim. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to spend 3-4 hours in a unique way!
Loved the setting, right on the Caribbean Sea. Friendly, helpful staff. Liked how long they let each person interact with the wildlife, feeding the flamingos, or touching the stingrays. Great dolphin show. Not a very big place, but lots to do! Definitely got our money’s worth! Would return.
Had a wonderful time. Definitely do the sea lens with that private behind the scenes tour. You’ll get to see all the educational programs they’re a part of and meet the animals behind the scenes.

They have everything from dolphins to sea turtles, flamingos, urchins, conch, sharks, and more. The Italian sandwich was really tasty too. Definitely get one. And was the cheapest meal we had on the trip.
