Who Can Enroll?

To join the Self-Reliant Diver course, you must be:

• A PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
• At least 18 years old
• Have 100 logged dives

Academic Curriculum

The course focuses on developing skills to compensate for situations typically managed with a buddy. Key learning points include:

• Dive planning using air consumption rate calculations
• Life support system redundancy
• Independent management of dive emergencies

Practical Training

During three self-reliant training dives, you’ll practice:

1. Performing an air consumption rate swim to gather data for calculations.
2. Switching to a redundant air supply system during simulated emergencies.
3. Swimming without a mask.
4. Navigating to various points, including your exit.
5. Using a DSMB (Delayed Surface Marker Buoy).
