Terrible service and we ate here during the Thursday live music night. It was our last night in Curacao and we wish we went to Rozendaels Restaurant across the street. Don’t waste your money here. This is what we dealt with:•It was incredibly hot inside the restaurant. We asked for water several times, it was only served midway through our meals.•We ordered an extra side of Funchi Fries and never received it. We told the server after we finished our main meal and she told us the kitchen forgot it.•Alcoholic drinks are watered down.•We asked for two Rum Cakes, they served us two Cheesecakes instead.•We made reservations and it took them a while to get a menu to us/welcome us.•It looks like they were hosting a group (two wedding anniversaries), the main focus of the servers was this group. So the remaining customers received poor service. The Pen Restaurant or any of the restaurants across Avila are better.
You won't beat the view, or the music on a Thursday. The food left a lot to be desired, the only disappointing meal at Avila - seafood paella was mildly overcooked; lobster tacos came in a stale cheap shell, sad for the price. You pay a premium for what could be a better experience down at The Pen.
Eeeh. Food's overpriced for what it is. We have the ribs and seafood fettuccine and they were... Fine. Like not bad, not great, just okay.Music and view were awesome and the staff was quick and friendly.
Amazing view, great food and live jazz music
We made reservations here on Thursday night so we could hear the live music. We were not disappointed. The music was so good. The restaurant overlooking the water was beautiful. Couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere. They have inside and outside seating and the band was up perched up high above everyone. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. The drinks were good and the food too. Plenty of options. Definitely recommend this spot for a fun night out with friends or family.
We made reservations for Thursday night because of the jazz music. Music was amazing. Our waitress was lovely. We ordered the bread platter and were disappointed to find all the bread was covered in seeds (pumpkin) seeds. I cannot eat that due to an allergy. I maybe should have asked, but I feel like the menu could have also specified it was not plain bread. We asked the waitress if they had any non-pumpkin seed bread. She asked how many I wanted and I said just 1 piece. They delivered 3 pieces (very nice right?). I ate two pieces because they were there. When she came back she said she was going to take the 1 leftover piece back to the kitchen so they could see that I didn’t eat it and only charge me for 2 pieces. I didn’t say anything- I don’t mind paying, but you brought more than I asked for and then charged me for eating it? Not right. My husband had the lentil dish which he enjoyed. I had the seafood pasta which arrived with unknown chunks of fish. I inquired and was told that they were “probably” tuna or salmon, which was not listed as being in the dish. I eat shellfish but not actual fish, so I would not have ordered it.Take away- properly list items and ingredients on the menu so guests can make informed choices.
We had a great time here. We stayed at the Avila hotel and decided to try this restaurant that’s on the hotel grounds. We came around 6:30pm and just missed the sunset, which you can see since it’s right on the water. The ambience is nice, not super fancy but the water, the caribbean flair and us being seated at the tables next to the water was great. We had the crab cakes for starters which were good. We also had a good whole fried red snapper that was very tasty and the ribs which were good, not great. My son had the seafood fetuccine pasta and that was great. We also had the pineapple with coconut ice cream dessert which was very good. All in all, it surpassed our expectations. Service was good and ambience great! The price was acceptable for hotel island pricing (if you know what i mean). Good choice overall though!
Everything we tried was delicious. Fish soup, garlic shrimps, catch of the day. The service was also very friendly. They have live jazz band on Thursday evenings, enjoy the music with fantastic ocean view!
Outdoor wooden booths above the beach. We had the skirt steak and a conch burger. Both were fine. Fries were very good. If you are staying at Avila Beach Hotel, it's an easy spot to visit but I wouldn't go out of the way for it.
