Pristine beaches and crystal clear blue water where you can enjoy and relax!
Cabana Beach is a beautiful location for breakfast, lunch, lounging and dining. You can come to Cabana Beach the entire day for a delicious meal while you enjoy the environment. During the day there is a beautiful view at the beach and blue sea and the evenings have a cozy atmosphere with great lighting effects in the umbrellas. Cabana Beach also has many options in dining. The international cuisine will surprise you every meal. Not only you can order a la carte, there is also the possibility to choose for a freshly baked pizza and the beloved Chef’s Bites.

This was one of the most chaotic and disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had. My mom, sister, and I quickly realized we needed to leave within 4-5 hours of arriving. The hotel’s 4.5-star rating is baffling to me.Our experience started poorly with my mom having to drag her suitcase across rocky pavement, and carrying her suitcase up the stairs with her bad back. My suitcase broke because of this, but they told me I could go in town and buy a new suitcase myself. The beach was overcrowded, dirty, and the staff were unfriendly. We couldn’t find clean seating and weren’t allowed to move chairs to sit together. The atmosphere was far from relaxing, with loud club music playing constantly. The photos online are misleading, making the place look more luxurious and private than it is. After voicing our concerns, the manager took over an hour to respond and eventually told us we wouldn’t get a refund for our 12-night stay.I recommend booking refundable rooms if you decide to stay here, but honestly, you’re likely to be disappointed. We found refuge at the Marriott, where the staff were friendly, the beach was clean, and the overall experience was a huge relief.Don’t let the photos deceive you; this place is far from what it appears online. I will go into more detail on TripAdvisor.
Emma Callaghan, room 4622, July 28-Aug 7I recently arrived at Kontiki Beach Resort and will be staying for 9 nights. I wanted to share my experience so far to help future visitors. Like many others, I read the reviews on TripAdvisor and was concerned about the numerous complaints. They mentioned rude staff, very dirty rooms, lack of air conditioning, cramped spaces, bad lighting for applying makeup(?), dirty saltwater lagoon pools, difficulty reserving beach chairs, towels only available at reception, and noise from beach parties on Wednesday and Saturday nights.Needless to say, I was very skeptical about coming to Kontiki Beach Resort. However, upon arrival, we were greeted with coconut drinks and some of the friendliest service I've ever experienced. Nish escorted us to our room, showing us the outlets and ensuring we had adapters to charge our devices for navigating the island with our rented vehicle.Cabana Beach is amazing, with crystal clear water and seven rows of cabana chairs, the first two rows of which are reserved for guests until 11 am. The rooms were impeccably clean, and the air conditioning was wonderfully cold, which was perfect for the 92-degree weather. We were imbedded in a tropical jungle with stone walkways and beautiful mahogony. We had plenty of towels, and while you do need to remember to get your towels at reception, that's a minor inconvenience.Regarding the complaints about makeup lighting and room to lay out the paint for your face: we're on holiday ...try the natural look (who you trying to impress). The room lighting was also noted as not appropriate for make up application....omg!Overall, I give Kontiki Beach Resort a 10+. We are so glad we didn't let the negative reviews deter us. This resort is a fantastic place to stay, and if you're coming to Curaçao, I highly recommend it. We also compared Kontiki to Hilton Rif (where we stayed for 2 nights) and want to add that the all-inclusive had nothing to offer EXCEPT Monday-Friday (8am-5pm) construction on the entire upper floor of the hotel which was unfinished, heard first thing in the morning then all day by the pool (just a heads up if thats a potential booking for your Curacoa trip)
My wife and I want to thank the staff for making our Honeymoon so memorable and our stay at the resort so personable. This was my wifes first visit and my third to the resort. Our room was clean, the view was amazing and the staff was always available and willing to help. The staff had even placed a heart, flowers and a card on our bed congratulating us in our marriage. So kind! We will be back!Thank you again!Sincerely,Dennis & Phyllis E.
This is a horrible resort and I am not sure how they have gotten such high reviews. Maybe the high reviews are from the new luxury suits which are completely separate from the original hotel rooms. However, the standard rooms are disgusting. They do not clean them. When we arrived in our room there was vomit in our bathroom and on the toilet that had not been clean, the shower was disgusting. Then we we called them to clean they came in with napkins and a spray bottle. You can tell the floors of the room are never swept or mopped. That night our room was infested with mosquitos. I understand a few because of the property type but this was not normal. The following night our bed was infested with ants. Then when we called the lobby no one was there from the hotel except security and they could not switch our room. Then when they did switch our room the following day they moved us to a room that room smelled like a sewer. So we just stayed in our friends room for the remainder of the trip and showered in our old room. Our bathroom shower water only stayed hot for literally 2 minutes, so we had to take cold showers for our entire stay. The bathroom door did not close. The showers don't have door so water gets all over the bathroom. They refused to refund us to go stay somewhere else after being on the phone with Expedia for hours. The beaches, cabana, and amenities are not clean and very dirty. They don't have beach towels on the beach you have to walk all the way to the lobby to get a towel, bring it to the beach, then bring them back to the lobby. Overall just a dirty hotel and I would never stay again. I will say the staff was extremely nice that was probably the only pro of this resort. This is not a relaxing spa like resort that it's marketed as. I would have never booked this.
Being welcomed after a long flight with a fresh coconut was a nice bonus! We stayed in one of the houses, lots of space, nice terrace by the pool, refrigerator is very nice. Service, lighting, privacy and access to the swimming pools and beach were very good. We barely noticed there were other guests (First 2 wks of July). It's very nice to get up and immediately take a dip. Or take a dip after a day at the beach - great! 😃We had a good night's sleep every night. So nothing to complain about. What is also a nice bonus is, beach towels, coffee and water were offered at no cost, 24/7.Would book it again and recommend it to everyone! It was Sun-sational!
This is such a beautiful and unique resort I had the pleasure of experiencing. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, they even greeted us with coconuts! We were a very close walk to the beach and had cabana beds that were reserved for hotel guests only. The salt water pools located around the resort were unreal! I had a great time and I recommend this resort to anyone planning on coming to curacao!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Kontiki Beach Resort and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, with comfortable rooms and excellent amenities that made our stay incredibly enjoyable. One aspect that truly stood out was the exceptional service we received from the hotel staff, especially Jonathan. He went above and beyond to ensure our vacation was perfect. From his warm welcome at check-in to his attentive service throughout our stay, Jonathan’s kindness and professionalism made a significant impact on our overall experience. He was always ready with a friendly smile and helpful recommendations, making us feel valued and cared for. His dedication to providing top-notch service is truly commendable and deserves special recognition.I highly recommend Kontiki Beach Resort to anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay.
We stayed three nights at Kontiki during our Curacao vacation. We couldn't decide between Kontiki and Avila, so we stayed at both (see my Avila review too). When we arrived, by rental car, at Kontiki, we pulled in the gate, I parked the car and walked up to the welcome reception. The person wasn't terribly friendly and seemed to be disinterested in me as a guest. She asked for my name and proceeded to look up my reservations. Her complete attitude and tone changed when she realized I was staying in a luxury suite and had VIP status. She instructed me to get back in the car and continue down the road to the VIP check-in, saying "you'll see it when you get there".So, that was odd and a little off-putting.We drove around and sure enough there was a beautiful welcome area. We parked and walked up to the check-in desk. She offered us a seat as she checked us in. She told us our room wasn't quite ready. As we had other reservations, she offered to hold our luggage and contact us once the room was ready. We left our luggage with her and went to our other off-site reservation. When we returned, she walked us to our room and left. No welcome drink, etc. No explanation about the room electronics. We had read of the loud late night parties, so, we were prepared. Sure enough, the loud partying continued every other night until 2am. It was loud enough that you could hear the attendees singing. We gave up trying to sleep until the parties were over. Interesting thing about those parties, they seemed to be for the general public staying at any resort/hotel in the Mood Beach area, not specifically for Kontiki guest. The first night of the partying, we believe someone jumped our privacy wall and checked our door (which was a little alarming), thankfully it was locked. I did report that the next morning and they followed up later to say no evidence was found and ensure guest safety. The VIP beach was supposed to be open 7-11am daily for our reserved spot. We arrived at the beach around 7:30am and nobody was to be found...no towels, no bar, no service. We found a lounger and settled in. Shortly after 10am some employees started showing up, placing very nice fitted terrycloth sheets on the loungers and offering towels. The loungers here in the VIP section were the size of a twin bed. The attendant told us we were not in our reserved spots, but after she contemplated making us move, decided to leave us be. There was no bar service at our loungers, we had to go to bar and get our own drinks and water. We were not offered fresh fruit. The beach closes daily at 5pm (which was very odd) and they make you leave. Additionally, if you didn't order a drink by 4:45, you weren't getting a drink at this VIP bar. After 4:45pm, you have to go to the bar outside the VIP area. Very inconsistent 'luxury' that didn't seem worth it. Maybe I'm being picky, but, it was costly. In the room, the controls were a little confusing. It was also awkward to have to call room service for ice then wait for 30 mins or so for it to be delivered (I'd rather just get my own instead of waiting). Only one day did we receive beach towels in the room. Only once did we receive turn-down service, and have a chocolate on the pillow. We didn't even realize until that last day that luxury VIP guest get special beach towels. Again, very inconsistent luxury services. We did not not see any mosquito spraying while we were there, and sure enough, was the only place we got a few mosquito bites despite our use of bug repellant and swatting them in our room. Was Kontiki worth the premium luxury resort cost, we didn't think so. Perhaps staying in the regular rooms back within the resort would be quieter, but, then you are not ocean front. For these reasons, this wasn't the resort for us.
I wish I could give this resort 5 stars and the only reason it’s not is because of the extremely loud music being played at the beach bars below us until 2 am on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Visitors must be more aware of this especially if staying the luxury suites or at the front part of the resort closest to the beach. If you stay up late anyways or are there to join the party, you’ll have a perfect stay. If not, I would recommend staying in the regular rooms near the back of the resort, or unfortunately elsewhere. The location is ideal with its proximity to downtown, the beach is fun and relaxing with good service, and the amenities and restaurants nearby are excellent. You will enjoy just be aware of the late night parties here!
Our experience here was amazing. The hotel was absolutely stunning !!! The staff was amazing, especially Angelo, he made our stay absolutely authentic with his amazing suggestions. The only thing I’d change is the size of the showers. They could definitely be bigger.
