Kura Hulanda Museum

Interesting museum featuring African artifacts, slavery items and historical information.
Surprisingly there were also Mesopotamian, Roman, Greek, Iran and Syrian artifacts.
They could use maps to show where things came from.

We took a guided tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and respectful of the sensitive nature of the exhibits.

Really good museum. Plan on spending about two hours. Worth going through each of the different sections.

If you love history like I do. You must come here, you won't regret it! Pay an extra $3 for a tour person.

All I can say is wow! It was a very dark part of world history! I am glad we have reminders of what never needs to be repeated in our history!

It's a very good museum to learn of our collective history, specifically the horrific slave trade and conditions. We chose a self guided tour and spent a good amount of time going through all the buildings. I recommend at least an hour for this museum. It's heavy but necessary. Walkable from the cruise port.

Let's start by saying this....
If you are of African Decent you will find this museum hard to complete and very very emotional. This national gem Is carefully and masterfully curated to showcase a history that is constantly pushed to be forgotten. Relics from the Middle East, Africa, American History, History of the Island of Curacao and more are beautifully displayed with lots of historical information to read along the way. The items displayed will break your heart, leave you in disgust and angry at a global history that Is filled with cruelty and shame. At the same time you can bask in the brilliant culture that has been discovered of a people who once lived a life of pride, art, architecture and grace. This museum for me was one I planned on visiting but left me in a small corner shedding tears. It was amazing but touching and once again extremely emotional. I was grateful for the opportunity to learn more and experience a historic exhibition. I am grateful to the staff and curators for creating such an amazing interactive and informative well organized, well preserved, outstanding space to display the history of people who came before me who endured more than anyone can imagine and suffered more than anyone on this planet. This museum is a harsh reminder of how beautiful humans can be and how disgustingly cruel many have been throughout history and continue to be until this day. Super well detailed inside of the museum, with an amazing timeline oriented route. About the Trans Atlantic Slave trade, but also about Various African tribe cultures Very well preserved items. And as an descendant of a Afro-Curaçaose an emotional informative experience and very touching.

We were incredibly grateful for the opportunity to visit the outside of the promenade, even though our time was limited due to the early arrival of a cruise. Despite not being able to explore every corner, we were treated to a stunning sight. The beauty of the promenade's exterior was truly captivating, leaving us in awe of its architectural grandeur. Additionally, we were fortunate enough to have a knowledgeable guide who shared the most captivating stories, adding a layer of depth and intrigue to our visit. We are thankful for the chance to experience even a glimpse of the promenade's beauty and history.
