Nice market to go after climbing the Christoffel Mounting for a sòpi (soup), other local cuisine or goat blood if you dare.
The good part: it’s interesting and the food is good - what the locals eat. My wife had the fish soup (yummy) and the fish stew (two pieces of fried fish with a sauce on top), which was good. I thought I had ordered crab soup, but got what seemed like goat soup with lots of bones (still tasted good). We also got some of the pumpkin pancakes, which were tasty, but a bit squishy in consistency. We really liked the oregano juice at Viskerij, so we got some here too (in bottles). It was good, but a bit too sweet for our taste. Definitely something to try - the flavor is not what you’d expect. The bad part? We came here around 11am (on a Sunday of course) and the place was somewhat busy. It took us 1.5 hours to get our food, mostly because the person taking our meal ticket (you pay at a little stand and get a ticket with your order) was thoroughly confused about who ordered what - the food was already prepared and just has to be put on plates and into styrofoam cups.
Variety of local food stands
Absolutely a must visit if you want to try local food. Go wait in line where all the locals wait, that is where the good stuff is!With a little hesitation I ordered the blood dish, and the organ stew dish (sapi mondongo). It was really nice! I don’t like blood but this stuff did not taste like iron. Also ordered the fish soup - which was just a very nice fish broth.
Local market on sunday norning. Where you can buy local food at it's best. Also local sweets and our famous Arepa di Pampuna ( pumpkin pancakes)
