Serena’s Art Factory and the adjoining Art and Souvenir Shop are located near the CurAloë Plantation and the Ostrich Farm on the serene and beautiful east side of Curacao. Visitors can tour the Factory and Shop, free of charge, and see how Serena’s amazing souvenirs and sculptures are made.Serena’s Art Factory is a registered concept and company. It is also the place where Serena professionally restores sculptures in plaster and stone for churches, museums, individuals and firms. The tropical garden surrounding Serena’s Art Factory is used for lively open air workshops for individuals and groups, who enjoy painting Serena’s sculptures and souvenirs themselves. At Serena’s Art Factory her larger than life art sculptures are produced individually and her delicate souvenirs are cast in silicon moulds and made of various materials like plaster, epoxy and concrete. This is done by a team of local craftsmen, experienced in both modern and traditional techniques.The Chichi® sculptures and other Caribbean figurines are polished, finalized and transported to the homes over fifty local painters. Here the Chichi® sculptures come to life, when they are painted in 25 beautiful Caribbean colors, by a team of talented, local women, trained by Serena herself. Each woman paints the Chichi® sculptures and other souvenirs in her own colorful style, but follows specific directives to guarantee a certain product consistency. Many women have developed their skills to such an extent, that Serena’s Art Factory is frequently approached by clients for custom made assignments and special requests.Serena’s Art Factory radiates artistic energy and possesses an atmosphere of inspired mulitcultural cooperation. We went to the workshop. And it was a fun experience, I'm not a very artistic person but I managed to paint a lovely looking Chichi. 😊 The guides are friendly and they give you tips on how to paint. They also gave a tour of how the chichis are made. Definitely would recommend trying it out the workshop.

Great workshop, materials and concept! I guess I didn't realize how commercial it was. We were ushered in and it instantly felt like a tourist trap. Every step someone was telling you where to go. Then a tour bus came to join. Not a problem, but again, didn't feel authentic like I was picturing. Also, after researching the company owner, I didn't have a good feeling of a white person making money off of local, black, voluptuous person.

Without (seemingly) my own hangups, it was well organized and with the high quality paint, everyone becomes an artist.

Notes: I don't have a feeling it sells out. We were so nervous to make sure we were there before 9:00. There is no food, so eat before. All painting areas are shaded.

What a wonderful way to spend a morning. Learning about the art pieces you see around Curaçao, then learning the history and how they’re made. And.. best of all, paint your own Chichi.

The experience here is well organized. Staff are amazing and helpful- with lots of tips for those who may need a little help with the paint brush.

All in all, we had an amazing visit and experience at Serena’s.

Such a beautiful, cozy, colorful workshop. Even if you just go to visit it's very pleasant to walk around the trees, the art, and the shop. Loved it here!

We came here after visiting the ostrich farm. It's small location, but we really like to see the workshop. There is not too much to do if you are visiting without a workshop. But it still gives you some insights and the people are very friendly here. We also boucht some homemade chichi here!

After seeing the chichi's all over the island, we decided to take a workshop. Basically, it's quite nice to sit outside in the open air and paint the previously chosen figure. The time is sufficient. However, we would have liked a little art assistance.
