This was our honeymoon and we were very disappointed in this resort. Pictures online do not match what it looks like in person. We booked an oceanview sun club room and felt like I booked a motel on the beach. The amount we paid for this resort I would have expected more. We decided to rent a car last minute to get away from the resort as much as possible. This is more of a 3 star resort, only because it does have a beautiful beach and nice pool otherwise it is a 2 star with the quality of food, drinks, service, and rooms.
I’m not a person who leaves reviews but after staying here I felt obligated to.This hotel is possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever experienced in my life. The rooms and property are beyond outdated, don’t expect anything to look like the pictures.Rooms are very old, and most things are not functional. Barely any lighting especially in the bathrooms, and the AC does not work.Food is inedible, and the options are mediocre at best, aside from the fact that you will wait hours to get your order at all restaurants throughout the property. I ended up leaving the hotel everyday for food because it was that bad. Additionally, drinks are very poor as well, and even paying for Sun Club won’t help that.Service is absolutely terrible, some staff members are pleasant but will forget your order and never bring it, you’ll wait 30 minutes for a coffee at the buffet, and will be standing at the host stand for 15 minutes when there are open tables and no one will come greet you and offer you a table. The wait times are ridiculous and the hotel is not even at capacity. You can tip all you want, as I did, the service somehow just keeps getting worse.Amenities are old, and not kept clean, pools, bathrooms throughout the property, etc.Upgrading to the Sun Club is a scam, the service, food, drinks, and room are just as mediocre. They would not leave me towels in the room, I had to call for towels and then wait an hour to receive them. Room service which is offered through the upgrade takes 3 hours to arrive, and that’s after the 10-15 calls you have to make to the room service line before they even answer you.The only good thing I have to say is the location is great, and you are in walking distance to Mambo Beach, and all the restaurants which have great service and food. The beach is also very nice, and the ladies at the Sun Club check-in and the Kids Club are very polite and helpful, aside from this everything else is completely terrible. Staying at this hotel was a complete failure, a scam, and a waste of money. It’s embarrassing that they’re part of the Hyatt chain.
I recently stayed at Sunscape Hotel, and unfortunately, it was a highly disappointing experience. Despite booking a room in the Sun Club, which I expected to offer some level of comfort and exclusivity, the reality was quite the opposite.Firstly, the hotel itself is extremely dated, with rooms that are clearly in need of renovation. The furnishings were worn, and several amenities were either broken or malfunctioning. The air conditioning in our room did not work properly, making the stay uncomfortable, especially in the heat. For a resort that markets itself as a premium destination, this was unacceptable. The dining experience was equally frustrating. The restaurants had massive lines just to get a seat, and once seated, we were often left waiting for over an hour for our food. On a couple of occasions, the wait was so long that we decided to leave without eating. The staff seemed overwhelmed and very slow, further contributing to the poor experience.Overall, I would not recommend Sunscape Hotel to anyone. It was a waste of money and a frustrating experience from start to finish. If you’re looking for a relaxing vacation, look elsewhere.
This was the best father-son holiday! we had a great time from the first day to the last day. Big compliments to the entertainment team and the Buffet team. Freddy was a huge help and the ladies at the Sunclub helped us with a smile anytime we had any questions. The beach/snorkeling is really good and the pool was perfect to relax. the only issue we had was other guests reserving multiple beach chairs without actually using them for a very long time. (which wasn't allowed)In short, the team at Sunscape did an awesome job!!. some other guests can learn proper hotel etiquette!.
This resort is one big scam from top to bottom. We paid extra to have a kitchenette only to be told when we arrived that we couldn't cook in the room. The Sun Club is another giant scam. Premium liquor...there isn't any on the resort. Private beach is only different colour chairs and a roped off area same as the rest of the beach. The food is mediocre at best and the rooms are dated and broken down. There is a dance club next door to the resort that plays insanely loud and terrible music till 2am making it impossible to sleep. The service is slow and very poor. The personnel are poorly trained and disinterested. The bottom line is don't waste your money. This place turned out vacation into a trial of our patience. Miserable 😖
Hello,I am writing to let you know how disappointed I am in my stay at Sunscape curaçao. We arrived on Sunday July 7 and were put into a room with no air conditioning. We contacted the Sun Club and were not accommodated with a new room until 5 days later. The food was absolutely inedible and disgusting! The birds pooped all over all the outside eating venues and the flies were landing on the food at the buffet. I have never been so disappointed in an all inclusive in my life! I had my elderly father with me (87 years old) and he was put in a room on the 3rd floor! When I told them absolutely not, they gave him a first floor room. We had to rent a wheel chair for him at $275 for the week! You did not supply any wheel chairs for the elderly and you do not provide elevators!!! The private pool at the Sun Club was in desperate need of an update and you could not walk into the ocean without stepping on sharp rocks! We paid extra per day for the Sun Club and the appetizer was a piece of pineapple with one grape on a skewer. How disgusting to treat your guests that way after we paid $3000 per person and there were 4 of us! I would request a refund, but I know it will fall on deaf ears! I am extremely disappointed and will never be patronizing a Hyatt property ever again!! I will be telling all my family and friends what we experience at your resort!!!!
I stayed here for a single night with my husband. We were originally going to stay for 4 nights, but the first night was so bad that we upgraded to a nicer place for the remaining time. The staff was great and friendly but the hotel itself was old and not worth nearly what we paid. The pictures they show you of the rooms are very deceiving. The food was ok, a little stingy on the portions, but I guess if you go to the buffet you can get whatever you want. The drinks were watered down. The beach is fine, a little rocky. The water is beautiful, but that is not specific to this resort, almost anywhere in the Caribbean the water is going to be beautiful. The shower only has one door, so you need to position it in such a way that water doesn't get on the floor. The A/C is unsatisfactory, and does not fully cool the room. There is no elevator, although there are only 3 floors, so that is not the end of the world. All in all, this is a very OK establishment, but it is priced as if it is a nice establishment, and it is not.
Use caution! The website is a bait and switch. We booked a sun club master suite ocean front and were placed in what the website described (and pictured) as the sun club honeymoon junior suite ocean front. In trying to rectify the situation the front of house staff was anything but helpful and even called us liars. Sorry, but I didn’t just make up the fact we didn’t have a kitchenette, bathtub, or 1k square feet. Our only course of rectifying the situation ended up being to dispute with our credit card company. The food was on par with cafeteria food; edible, but not great. It’s advertised as having 6 restaurants but in reality there is the buffet, a grill, a small breakfast cafe, and 3 small scale restaurants with rotating availability. At any given time there are no more than 2-3 options available. The location is great! Snorkeling and the beach are fantastic. Those were the only things that didn’t make us pack up and leave for another resort within the day.We aren’t picky people, but I would never recommend this place even to my post enemies. I can’t wait for it to shut down, be demolished, and then reopened as a better option since the location is amazing.
I'm only giving this resort a 3-star because of the amazing beach! The resort itself needs much improvement. We booked an ocean front view room (and those rooms looked great - walkout to the beach) but when we arrived at the resort there were no ocean front view rooms available so the resort downgraded our room. The room(s) are in desperate need of an update. Our a/c did not work and we were forced to move (twice), the lamp shades appeared to be burned and torn, our final room had no refrigerator ... at no point did we have washcloths, ceiling tiles were broken and busted ...the television in the first room was the size of my work computer screen and the audio was distorted on most channels (some people in our group couldn't even get channels on their televisions) ... another person in our group didn't have hot water and the toilet didn't work ... a/c seemed to be a major problem with other guests as well.I believe that Sunscape books the higher priced rooms and then when you arrive, they say all the higher priced rooms are taken and they downgrade you and say that you must get a refund from your travel agent ... and, of course, the travel agent says that Sunscape is only refunding a certain amount. It really felt like a bait and switch scam. The food was mediocre in the buffet ...but, the steak, Italian and especially Hibachi grill were excellent... entertainment was good. The beach is breathtaking (perfect weather) and made up for the disappointment in the rooms. The staff was friendly ... they can only work with what they have.I would definitely return to Curacao ... the island is magnificent... not too sure about staying at Sunscape again.
I wish I could give a higher review because staff have been amazing. Unfortunately, there is one major issue at this resort. The food. I have tried all of the resuraunts on the property for different meals. The meals range from edible to absolutely disgusting. The staff have been great since the time we arrived. The property is generally well kept and is on an amazing stretch of beach. There has been entertainment nightly and various activities during the day to keep busy. Alternatively, there are several pools and a great beach, perfect for snorkeling. If the food was at least decent, this would have been a 4-star review. Hopefully, with Hyatt taking over the resort, they improve the food.
