We felt very prejudiced against as black women in Willemstad. I’ve never felt so dismissed, un acknowledged and stared at! Yea it was BAD! I wouldn’t dismiss the whole island because Westpunt seemed very different however as an African American woman I would NOT go back to Wilemstad and I will never stay at the Royal Sea resort!
I stayed there for in the first week of July 2024 and it was an amazing experience, my sister and myself did not have any issues. The staff was always helpful and courteous. The resort is perfect for a quiet vacation with family or loved one.
Top best place to stay if you want some peace and quite, private beach.Lovely people. And to feel at home away from home. Handicap and kids friendly
Was told at check in this was a time share property which I hadn’t seen in other reviews. The room we stayed in was nice and clean- great view facing ocean. It is right across small bay from lionsdive so walking distance to variety of restaurants. Next door to aquarium. Kids had fun in the pool. They have full time guy who appears to do maintenance and/or security. The hot tub is not hot at all (same temp as pool) and we were in there for the bubbles with another family and he came over and pointed to sign no kids under 16 in jacuzzi. We told him it’s not hot. He walked away. This was never fixed so don’t know what issue was. The pools could be cleaned of leaves and old trash around pool area. Don’t know why when he walks around he doesn’t do things to make it a little nicer. (Ex-same drink cup sitting by jacuzzi all 3 days we were there). Also- a maintenance man knocked on our door after 8 pm wanting to spray a door with wd40 which was just odd as we had not asked nor made a complaint. I called front desk asking why and she didn’t know. We were checking out the next morning so not sure what the rush or issue was but that’s weird. The beach is beautiful but didn’t seem like best spot for our kids to play as the boats do go through and appeared to be little channel with moving water out to ocean. Also no shower ammenities like shampoo or soap provided as would be expected at a hotel so pack your own!
The good-So this location is in a great spot. Tucked away with its own beach. Restaurants and shopping everywhere. The hotel itself is great and the rooms are even better. There is some decent snorkeling out your backdoor! Security is great, and grounds are very well maintained. The bad-The bed was horrible. We understand that getting regular mattresses is probably pretty expensive. These are the foam ones that they vacuum pack. Very dense and very hard. Made up for it a bit with decent pillows. The worst-The restaurant. The food was awful, and drinks were overpriced and made by a 14 year old. Unacceptable service. Closed early all the time, despite stating they will be open until 10.In closure-If the restaurant was good, well priced, and properly staffed, this place would have gotten a five-star. Needless to say, if you plan on exploring and don't mind walking or driving for every meal, then book this place now!!!
Great location right on the water. Close to a ton of shops and restaurants. The rooms have everything that you can ask for. They make it easy to cook meals in the room, providing everything from utensils to cookware.Far enough away from the loud night life across the lagoon to not hear it when you want to go to bed, but close enough to walk there and back. The housekeeper was a true gem. Super sweet lady! We left her a tip in the envelope in the room, and my girls put a couple of shells in there for her. The next day, she saw us and instantly thanked them, and you could tell it was from the bottom of her heart. It's hard to find truly good people these days, and she is just that. Will choose here when we come back if we do not find an all-inclusive!
The 2 person villa is a motel room. Microwave, coffee pot, toaster & mini fridge. Comfortable beds. Also good as an adjoining room. If you want a true Villa experience you need to upgrade to the next level which are very nice.
