Emma Callaghan, room 4622, July 28-Aug 7I recently arrived at Kontiki Beach Resort and will be staying for 9 nights. I wanted to share my experience so far to help future visitors. Like many others, I read the reviews on TripAdvisor and was concerned about the numerous complaints. They mentioned rude staff, very dirty rooms, lack of air conditioning, cramped spaces, bad lighting for applying makeup(?), dirty saltwater lagoon pools, difficulty reserving beach chairs, towels only available at reception, and noise from beach parties on Wednesday and Saturday nights.Needless to say, I was very skeptical about coming to Kontiki Beach Resort. However, upon arrival, we were greeted with coconut drinks and some of the friendliest service I've ever experienced. Nish escorted us to our room, showing us the outlets and ensuring we had adapters to charge our devices for navigating the island with our rented vehicle.Cabana Beach is amazing, with crystal clear water and seven rows of cabana chairs, the first two rows of which are reserved for guests until 11 am. The rooms were impeccably clean, and the air conditioning was wonderfully cold, which was perfect for the 92-degree weather. We were imbedded in a tropical jungle with stone walkways and beautiful mahogony. We had plenty of towels, and while you do need to remember to get your towels at reception, that's a minor inconvenience.Regarding the complaints about makeup lighting and room to lay out the paint for your face: we're on holiday ...try the natural look (who you trying to impress). The room lighting was also noted as not appropriate for make up application....omg!Overall, I give Kontiki Beach Resort a 10+. We are so glad we didn't let the negative reviews deter us. This resort is a fantastic place to stay, and if you're coming to Curaçao, I highly recommend it. We also compared Kontiki to Hilton Rif (where we stayed for 2 nights) and want to add that the all-inclusive had nothing to offer EXCEPT Monday-Friday (8am-5pm) construction on the entire upper floor of the hotel which was unfinished, heard first thing in the morning then all day by the pool (just a heads up if thats a potential booking for your Curacoa trip)
