I had come from a flight in Bogota, Colombia and bought a bottle of limited edition alcohol there which was special to me on my way back home to Amsterdam, with connecting flight in Curacao.

Upon going through security inspection at this airport, the lady asked me if the bottle was mine, and when I said yes, she said 'not allowed' and promptly emptied the whole thing in the bin.

Normally I understand this procedure, but I had the receipt for this purchase, the bottle cap was still sealed, and if all that is unaccepted, then at least I should be able to have the option to go back and check in my luggage.

The fact that she did not talk me through the procedure (Like ok sir this is what's happening or this is what we're going to do) or try to help me to look for options is what really bothers me. Very cold and unprofessional.

Slow and disorganized. They use machines for customs/ immigration ( conducted at other airports by actual people) which were down and caused extremely long wait times and lines. A local we waited in line with told us the machines are always down. The woman didn’t give us a stamp on our passport because she left it elsewhere and didn’t feel like going to get it. I probably will not return just because of my airport experience. Which is a shame, because I had an incredible time during my visit.

This is a review from a private pilot's perspective.

Yesterday, I wanted to do a short scenic flight with the family. Once around the island in a Cessna 172. What should have been a 1 hour flight turned into almost 2 hours (Hobbs) because ATC did a poor job, as far as I can tell. Already at take off I was left to rot at the holding point forever. Some commercial jet that was taxiing behind me AND to an intersection further down the runway was allowed to take off before me. I have flown at major airports around the globe. Cape Town and Joburg. Sydney, Perth, Wellington, Anchorage, Zurich and many more. I think in all of my 650+ flying hours I've done a total of two, maybe three holding patterns due to traffic. Not in Curacao. Here, I had to do several 360s, fly in the opposite direction of where I wanted to go for 10 minutes and got vectored for no obvious reasons. I was on the other side of the island at 500ft and there was ONE helicopter on final and ONE commercial jet still many miles out and thousands of feet above me. It's easy to say that safety has its price. It does of course, but this was just ridiculous. What's next? Just one flight in the morning and one in the evening ... in the name of safety? Oh, almost forgot ... they also have a follow me car which brings you out to the runway and back, even if you are the ONLY plane in the entire airport. That's 1 star only really. However, the people at the Jet Center were really friendly and the guy at the office where I filed my 'flight plan' extremely helpful. An extra star for that to a grand total of 2 stars.

I find this airport enjoyable; everything is straightforward. It's a clean and adequately sized facility, not too large. The security line moves quickly, and the duty-free shops are appealing. While I can't rate the food in the lounge, there are numerous stores and restaurants. Easy access to taxis, buses, and car rentals upon exiting the airport. The bathrooms are consistently clean, and I usually reach my gate in less than 30 minutes.

Zero organization. Lines get very long, and the people working the counter move in island time. You will stand in the same place in line for 20-30 mins. I really feel like the counter agents have zero to no training.

In this airport you won’t be lost at . It’s small, but very well equipped. There’s a duty free shop, service is so kind and helpful.
Whole airport is clean, but toilets can be better cleaned.
When you exit On your left you have the taxi stand . Did not have to wait . Taxi from Airport to Willemstad would cost you anything between 30-35$

Fantastic small airport with much character and vibrant energy. The locals are incredibly friendly and are helpful with anything you need.

Terrible imigration service.
Waited over 2hrs in a line with kids because there was only 1 person working.
Sure the E gates are great but if you have a kid under 18 you can't use them.

Very straight forward . This I guarantee you is one airport that you won’t be lost at . It’s small , not a lot of passengers which means no long immigration queue . I was not asked for my yellow fever card at the airport when I arrived . There’s a duty free on when you exit with good selection of wines , run , single malts and other alcohol . Car rentals are just after customs and you have all major brands including Avis hertz etc . When you exit On your left you have the taxi stand . Did not have to wait . Taxi from Airport to Willemstad would cost you anything between 30-35$
