Landhuis Chobolobo was built in the early 1800’s. It is located in the center of a piece of land which has an area of 10,500 m². (2 ½ acres). The property’s history is rather sketchy, but we do know that in the early 1900’s it belonged to the Family Jesurun. In 1947 the property was purchased by N.V. Senior & Co. and since then Landhuis Chobolobo is the home of the Genuine Curacao Liqueur. The Brand:We name it the Genuine Curacao Liqueur to differentiate it from other brands of Curacao liqueur that are not original. And until today “the Genuine Curacao Liqueur” is the only liqueur that is made of the peels of the “Laraha” (the bitter orange native of Curacao). It’s produced in 5 different colors; the original clear liqueur, the famous Blue and Green, Red and Orange as well. And there are also the special tastes: Coffee, Chocolate and Rum Raisin.

Visited as part of a tour. Had small samples of various liqueurs they make. The museum was interesting and only takes about 5 mins.

Great for a quick visit - you can walk through the small distillery without joining a tour. Cool to see how the bottles and packaging have changed through time. Hard to believe that the country makes all its curacao here! Simple gift shop with friendly employees.

Learning about the Brewer was great. A great history about the specialty liquor and the family who created it. Definitely would recommend a visit. Very tasty too.

When you visit Curaçao this is one place you need to put on your list. It’s a great tour and we did the cocktail workshop and the instructor Kendrick was great. We even went back and got some drinks for home there. A must go.

Home of the Genuine Curaçao Liquor since 1896. Famous for it's Blue Curaçao liquor and also the Tamarind, Chocolate, Rum Raisin and Coffee flavors. Landhuis Chobolobo is worth the visit for fine and sweet liquor lovers.

Visit is very brief. This distillery, which is the birthplace of the original blue curaçao liqueur, is very very small (140,000 bottles per year) and at least at the time I visited (3pm start) you dont really get to see much in operation so to speak. Guide was nice and a few interesting tidbits of history and info but nothing exciting. You get to taste a small sip of a few different flavors and get one or two curaçao based cocktails of your choice at the end of the tour depending on what tour you select. Tickets can be purchased on TripAdvisor or directly on site. Several start times per day.

We had an amazing time at the distillery with our private tour! Ingo was so friendly and knowledgeable. We learned so much about the startup, the Senior family, and the process of the liqueur. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The tasting was pretty straightforward as you got to sample 3 different flavors. I would definitely recommend coming to visit with a small group. We set out as a couple to do this tour, so our experience may vary from those who arrived as part of a group. The registration for the tour was fine, and the tour itself was decent. The constant crowded feel for what is a small property was a bit taxing to be honest. Samples were nice and the 2 drinks provided with our ticket were very good. Overall the experience was worth doing but the overcrowded feel was a bit annoying, otherwise I would rate this tour a 4. Our guide was excellent, he was a 5 for sure as he dear with the varying personalities and languages like a champ!!!

Does this tour give you a feel of the culture? Perhaps from a historical standpoint, but not of the culture today. So it’s not a cultural experience in my opinion.
Is this a must-do? Not really, in my opinion, but I must say, the trip there (taxi) exposed us to new areas. When we came out of the tour, we walked over to a local cafe to eat and we then got adventurous and took a local city bus back…so the tour did offer a bit more than we expected.

While I wouldn’t do it again, it was worth doing once and exploring the area around it.

Highly recommend this tour. We did the deluxe which came with two drinks. The tour takes 30 minutes and then you enjoy cocktails after. The tamerein summer and rum raisin were fantastic. You’ll end up with an appreciation for the origin of the liqueur and the special care that goes into making it. Ingo our tour guide was fantastic. You can also just show up and go to the bar and gift shop.
