Pietermaai Boutique Hotel

This place was great! Right in the midst of all types of eateries and entertainment. A short 10 minute walk to the city for more food, entertainment, shopping, sights, sounds and people watching. The staff was warm, welcoming, friendly, accommodating, kind, considerate and helpful.

My only cons were: no microwave in rooms, winding staircase might be a little tricky to navigate because of its width.

Other that, go and enjoy all the hotel has to offer, we will.

The hotel was exactly as described. The room was clean and fully equipped for a week long stay. The location was ideal for my stay. There were restaurants and the central shopping center are all nearby and within walking distance. Street parking on the street in front of the hotel was easily available most nights.

Stayed here with family August 2024. Very nice boutique hotel in central Willemstad. The hotel compound is expansive and there are rooms and buildings in various areas near to the reception, some require a slight walk from the front desk. There are two small pools in beautiful courtyards in two different locations on the property. Entry to different areas is secured through coded gates between buildings. Wifi is free and fast. This hotel doesnt have a restaurant but it is basically next to Nieuwestraat which is a nightlife hotspot with restaurants and bar patios. Rooms are very clean and boho style. Hotel staff are friendly and nice. Parking is free if you have a rental car but you will have to park on the public streets in front of the reception or on the street behind reception first come first serve. This hotel is probably about a 10 minute walk to the famous Queen Emma floating bridge. Would definitely come back

We were upstairs in a spacious room. The staff here is 5 Stars all the way. Easy 8-10 minute walk to Willenstad or restaurants across from Avila Beach Hotel. There are several restaurants and bars just behind the hotel. Easy street parking. Dive shops just down the street. Two swimming pools both private and nice. Would for sure stay here again. I don’t know about any of the other rooms except for ours in the main building which was excellent. Want to stress how great the staff is. Helpful, friendly and polite.

Staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The room was amazing and a short walk to downtown. Will stay again!

We had the chance to stay at the Pietermaai Boutique hotel during our stay in Curaçao and could not have loved it more. We stayed in the penthouse suite apartment with ocean view and our expansive rooms were beyond gorgeous, minimal, and calming. The view and privacy off of the back balcony was epic. We really did not want to leave. If/when we may our way back to Curaçao, we'll definitely stay here again.

Dirty, Damp and Uncomfortable.

If you are looking for an “amenity-rich”, “exclusive”, “four star boutique hotel” (as advertised online), this is not it. The way this hotel is marketed is misleading and simply false. Here is why:

• If you book the “split-level suite”, you will likely be placed in a room where the toilet is next to the bed without a door. The room is small, and only has AC at the top level, which leaves the bottom feeling damp and hot. The tiny sink is in front of a window, with no space for toiletries and no mirror. No proper wardrobe for your clothes and personal items. The room where the photos were taken is only 1 room in the hotel, the rest are rooms as described above.
• The mattresses are old and uncomfortable; you will feel the springs in your back all night, and after multiple nights your back will feel terrible. The linen is old; plenty of tears and stains.
• No toiletries whatsoever; you get 1 pump with cheap soap in the shower. No handsoap, 1-ply toilet paper, and no extra bathroom necessities such as vanity kits etc. (which is standard in 4 star hotels). We had to buy this ourselves.
• The bathroom is extremely dirty and grimy, see photos attached. It smells like mould and sewage. After complaining twice we received a “thorough cleaning”, but there were still plenty stains on the walls and floors. For one of us, this led to a face rash every time we took a shower and used the towels.
• No curtains, only wooden slats in front of the window that don’t fully close. This means the room won’t be dark once the sun comes up in the morning.
• The sinks in the kitchenette and bathroom don’t have hot water, only cold.

The list of reasons why is this is NOT a luxury, 4 star hotel is endless. I am very happy we did not see any cockroaches, which apparently are present in a few rooms.
This hotel is far below the quality standard they advertise. If you are expecting a 4 star luxury experience, you will not receive it at the Pietermaai Boutique Hotel.

NOTE: The hotel has offered us a 25% refund after asking for compensation, which was appreciated. However, this does not change our experience, and we still feel we need to share our honest opinion with future travellers.

We recently stayed 7 nights over the holidays from Xmas day to New Year’s Day. Firstly, I’m sorry to say this is more of a 3-star accommodation.
The good thing is its convenient location to access dining and drinking. However, it can get very noisy from the neighboring eateries.
One of the pools has a nice serene setting whilst the other pool is catered more to family so that’s a good balance.
The toiletries in the bedroom is rather disappointing. No hand soup, no shampoo/conditioner, no body lotion.
For beach access, you have to pay a minimum of USD20 1-way taxi to get to a not that far Mambo public beach which is really average and over crowded.
The other public beach for USD30 1-way taxi is Jan Thiel beach, again it is average and over crowded.
Perhaps we should have considered one of the beach front resorts but clearly at much more higher rates!
Nevertheless, it was good to visit Curaçao to explore the island with the ATV adventure (highly recommended), experience the dutch influence and the plentiful of firecrackers and fireworks on NYE!

I loved this hotel and I would return if I come back to Curaçao. Every detail is spot on. Location is great, a cool middle point to go downtown or to the beaches in the south.
Receptionists were super helpful and patient and helped me book a car and a tour to Klein Curaçao.
