Lion’s Dive & Beach Resort

By far the sportiest hotel on Curacao and it’s superb location makes it a perfect launch point for discovering some of Caribbean’s best kept secrets.
At Lions Dive & Beach Resort we are well aware of the fact that tourism can only survive in a world where good care is being taken of our natural environment! Lions Dive & Beach Resort is the sportiest place to stay. Lions Dive is the starting point for several mountain bike and hiking trails, for beginners to highly experienced guest. The premier dive shop of Curacao, Ocean Encounters, is located on our premises, as well as one of the better sport facilities of Curacao. Lions Dive is main sponsor of TEC, Team Endurance Curacao and supports several local and international sport events. We put the cherry on the ice-cream with the opening of our own 50-meter pool in 2008!

The stay at this hotel was extremely refreshing. The staff went above and beyond to make the most memorable experience available. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting. This hotel has a beautiful restaurant and beach onsite. Available also are daily activities on-site and nearby by we try the dolphin encounter spectacular experience for the kids and myself. Just walk with a USB charger for the phone the plugs are different. This hotel is a must-visit! We will be back!
Beautiful!!! Nice resort with private beach located at a calm artificial bay. No waves, shallow water ideal for small kids. Beautiful sea life and safe snorkeling. Free towels and enough beds under the palm trees at the beach. Friendly staff. Good restaurant at resort, for diner or feet-in-the-sand breakfast. Pure Caribbean vibe!
Such a wonderful place. We stayed 12 nights in an apartment and we very much enjoyed this hotel.Location is incredible, with the beach in front and many easy to access diving locations.Restaurants in the hotel are good as well, with direct view on the ocean, and not more expensive than other outside restaurants around.Rooms are clean, and very spacious, with a large full equipped balcony. Beds were surprisely good. Coffee machine in the kitchen refilled every day, and recycled water bottles in the fridge which can be refilled with fresh water at different location, for free. Even solar cream was provided for free on the beach !Staff was generally friendly except some exceptions (e.g Piazza restaurant), but nothing to complain. The only room for improvement in my opinion is the beach which was littered with little corral stones, and which could be cleaned, but again nothing critical. In conclusion, we highly recommend this place !
Some staff were friendly, but quite a few were not. Compared to other holidays in the Carribbean, we've had much friendlier and more welcoming staff on other islands. The Dive centre next to the hotel, Ocean Encounters, was great and was the reason we chose this location. Fireworks and loud music most nights - not a place for young kids or older people looking for a quieter beach holiday.
Just returned from a week's stay at LionsDive for a scuba diving vaca. Generally, the resort is pretty nice. The grounds are clean, beachfronts & cabanas/lounge chairs are plentiful and the restaurants are convenient & generally good food. Piazza was excellent! Most of the staff was friendly, although some could def use some 'customer service' training. Was a bit surprised that there was sometimes a language barrier, given that I they accommodate so many American visitors. My ding on the location is just that it's a good ways from the downtown Willemstad area. Not much within walking distance, but if you're just staying at the resort (and/or diving with Ocean Encounters), it wouldn't be an issue. The 2BR apartment-style room we had was big, nice, updated & mostly very clean. Did have a few bugs, but nothing major. Had a very spacious & comfortable wraparound balcony overlooking the pool (and the parking lot next door). Bedding & fixtures were all very nice, higher-end. Beds are VERY firm, so be prepared. The kitchen was also well stocked & appointed. We were in Bldg 2 - in the very back NW corner, nearest the street & LD maintenance shed (and furthest from Ocean Encounters dive shop), so I prob would not recommend staying in this building.Biggest complaint is probably the noise. A good bit of road noise & loud cars/bikes at night. But the Madero Ocean Club at the Mambo Beach Blvd development next door was absolutely ridiculous. On Wed & Fri nights (poss also Sat), they played stupidly loud tech music with a pounding until 2 AM, which made it next to impossible to sleep. And this may have been a fluke, but we were awakened at 6 AM on Sun morning - our first day there after a long travel day - by the same crazy loud tech thumping base. Evidently there was a 'charity run' that started at 3 AM (organizers said because it's too hot to run during daylight hours - ugh) and this was the 'celebration' at the finish. Really frustrating. Brought these concerns to the management, who seemed mildly concerned. Understand there may not be much they can do. But I won't stay there again until they either reach some kind of reasonable agreement with the club next door to drop the volume and/or cutoff music at 11 PM, or they put up a big barrier wall to substantially cut down on the noise. I have nothing against a good party scene, but when I come to (supposedly) quiet Caribbean island, I'm looking for peace & quiet & relaxation. If I want to party, I'll go to Vegas or South Beach.Bottom line - an overall nice resort. If noise doesn't bother you, you should enjoy it. But if you're a light sleeper or looking for more peace & quiet, might look elsewhere.
This resort was awesome. We had a group of 23 people diving and the dive crew was the best we’ve ever had. They were professional, safe and fun which made for a fantastic week of diving. The non divers in our group also had plenty to do: snorkeling, kayaking, and other excursions. The hotel and staff were lovely. The rooms well appointed and clean. The staff were kind and friendly. The resort is a short taxi ride to town. Would definitely stay here again!
Some pros and cons with this hotel - the location is amazing and the private beach is great. The service is top notch, all the staff is friendly, and the food was delicious. The big cons are the room was barebones (not even a single picture on the wall) and the LOUD music. The bars next door play club music until late night (until about 2am), which makes sleeping impossible. They did this for 2 of the 3 nights that we stayed there.
We stayed here during early June for our vacation. It is a beautiful property, beach, and all amenities. Having the private beach was just amazing. All the restaurants here also were great and had great variety. Staff were generally attentive and happy to have us here. Surandy especially went above and beyond when we checked in. Where this facility could improve is:- Loud music and fireworks very late at night made it difficult to sleep. Fireworks eg were at 1:30am on a Wednesday. I know it’s not directly from this resort but perhaps steps could be taken to prepare guests for this such as provided earplugs or better soundproofing.- Food options slightly expensive but standard with other similar restaurants around.- Would be useful to have more hooks to hang up/dry bathing suits in bathroom.- Bedroom sheets are very light. These are all minor items. Overall our stay was pleasant and would likely come again.
We loved it. The location is excellent and the beach is very good. The staff were helpful and rooms were good with all you need. We toured around the island and we could see that it is one of the best resorts on the island. It's right on Mambo beach and even has its own reef to snorkel on. We would come again.
Unbelievable resort. Went with a group of 20 people to LionsDive Feb 22-27 and had the best time. Four of us stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which was perfect! Full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, living space with a full size pull out couch and a great patio! Hotel offers a service to have groceries of your choice waiting for you, which we took advantage of. We frequented Chill for easy lunches and Happy Hour, the food is amazing. We did breakfast and a dinner at Hemingway and it was fabulous. The breakfast is my favorite because of the variety of options, and the coffee machine. My husband and I had a couples relaxation massage that he loved so much he booked himself a deep tissue one the next day. I cannot say enough about the front desk staff. They were willing to assist with all our needs, helping with transportation, getting converters, extra sheets, suggesting certain trips and stores. The beach is beautiful, the fish are colorful, the water is amazing. The location is great, right next to Mambo Blvd which is full of more restaurants and shops. Our groupof 20 all agreed that LionsDive was awesome!
